How do Spaces Affect Learning?

I am currently engaged in discussions around how spaces affect student learning. Seem like more and more thinkers and schools are starting to recognize the less-than-adequate spaces we teach and learn in are quite impactful. As someone who teaches daily in an environment that is too small and lacking natural light, this topic is quite important to me. While this short article that was shared with me  hits on some obvious points, why if these concepts are so obvious to we continue to accept our learning spaces as OK?
